Christmas markets are the perfect place to shop for Christmas presents that are unique, often handmade, and most certainly robust and built to last.
But if you can’t make it to a Christmas market this year, I’m creating a series of blog posts to guide you to the right places on the internet where you can buy from independent sellers and makers rather than hitting the high street.
The first post in this series has focused on handmade Christmas decorations, featuring products created from wool, wood, pebbles, reclaimed materials and more!
In this post we’re turning our attention to gifts for the most important people at Christmas, the little ones! We’ve carefully selected some of our favourite finds from around the web that might inspire your Christmas shopping this year!

From the author and illustrator of Positive Panda, Festive Flamingo is a book that introduces children to meditation, helps them to relax with breathing exercises and visualisations, before sharing twelve inspiring and uplifting journeys.
Written by an experienced teacher, the book aims to bring some calm to the festive season with a collection of children’s meditations.
We’re becoming increasingly interested in mindfulness for our two boisterous young boys, so we’ll definitely buying a copy of Festive Flamingo to restore some calm the the chaos that is the build up to Christmas!

Since having my two children, Mulberry Bush has been my ‘go to’ online shop for Christmas presents. Although they specialise in wooden toys, they also offer ranges of outdoor toys and craft supplies. I use this site so much because you can be certain that everything they supply is robust and built to last.
Browse through the Mulberry Bush website and you’ll be sure to spot some classic toys that you owned or longed for as a child. My particular favourite is this wooden castle, that I have my eye on for our boys this year. (OK, me. I’ll be buying it for me.)
Check out the Mulberry Bush website here.
All kids love bubbles, right? But I’m always concerned that they’re full of rubbish chemicals and the wands are cheap plastic that will be thrown away after a few days.
But now I’ve discovered Dr Zigs, who manufacture some of the best giant bubble toys in the world, with a unique focus on being as ethical and as environmentally conscious as they can.
From bubble mixture concentrate that promises the biggest, longest lasting and most colourful bubbles every time, to wands and even science kits, they’re 100% made in the UK and Dr Zigs work hard to support UK businesses by only making long-lasting, quality products.
I just have one piece of advice…. make sure your little ones don’t get hold of the tub of concentrate, because if they’re anything like mine, it’ll be spilt within 60 seconds! Shop Dr Zigs on their website.
Rockyboard by Jackalily Designs
The Rockyboard balance board is a wooden toy to inspire imagination, promote balance, strength and exercise from an early age!
Our boys would love this road design, it leads to all manner of open ended role play for our tractors, trucks, buses, and other vehicles!
The family run business only make a limited number of Rockyboards, but the good news is, they’re taking orders up to Christmas! Head to their Facebook page to find out more.
Hopefully this round up has provided you with some inspiration for Christmas gifts for children that are handmade and produced by individual sellers, if you aren’t able to make the trip to a Christmas market this year!
